Re: Finally getting started
Thanks Ned! I followed your advice and ordered one of the tiny routing bits for sale on eBay.I think the set of 4 were around 10 dollars. They worked great! I noticed that one time the bit got hot and melted the XPS resulting in a wider route than anticipated. I'm sure it was over 100 F in the garag...

Re: Finally getting started
more photos... The edging is 1/4" plywood. Thinking of just using wood glue to attach it but may decide on hardware. The edging has added some nice strength to the XPS board without adding a ton of weight. The test clasp butted up the edging quite nicely...YAY!!! :beer XPS is kinda pricey (abou...

Finally getting started
Well I finally got started on my track today. :klap Since the design is intended to be modular I have some extra work to do and unfortunately I won't be placing wire for a while. I am however pleased with the progress ...also pleased that things seem to be going together nicely. :thumpup Attached ar...

Re: Track and lane change experiments
Thanks Wes... Understand completely! I just want to see if I can make a track that I can take apart and move easily (use of foam). Im not filled with confidence either (actually its pretty low) but it will be a fun experiment and I will try and document the process well for better or worse. Thanks f...

Re: Track and lane change experiments
Thanks again for all the info. Im excited about trying the xps board... will probably be a few weeks before supplies arrive. Im also curious to see how my idea of adding small elevation changes work out and foresee possible problems in making sure the wire is inlayed consistently in shaped foam. Wil...

Re: Track and lane change experiments
 Dang...I kinda wished I'd read all of this before ordering wire for my future track. That being said ....this is a hobby so I will do my best to track (so to speak ) the development of my first track. Many thanks to all those who post their work! Unfortunately my sad designs will likely prove ...
