Re: Top or Bottom Loading Battery - Any Ideas?

Also remember if you insert the battery in reverse by accident it will blow the PCB. It certainly does on the new radio boards. Mounting the -ve on the side prevents this.

Re: 2.4ghz cars

I have had some success with the roller bearing on the steering arm. The servo steering now gives enough force to overcome any excess side friction. I mounted a small roller bearing just behind the magnet (i think it was a 2mm bore bearing about 5mm O/D). It worked quite well. The only downside is t...

Re: Lap Counting and Timing Using RFID Tags

Yes I was looking at this.
The only issues I can see are the cost and also the in car transponder uses 4.2v minimum. This might work, but could brown out.

Re: Lap Counting and Timing Using RFID Tags

With a programmable micro controller on board - in theory we should be able to to program a 'running' signals to switch a IR-led to mimic the frequencies we used to have ? Yes to flash a IR led would be easy, The only problem is that you would have to input to the microcontroller in the car which f...

Re: Lap Counting and Timing Using RFID Tags

I have been looking into this and I think you may be correct in that the standard RFID tags may be a little slow, however all RFID tags are not the same and some are regularly are used for runners crossing a line in a race, so may be suitable. Have a look at UHF RFID tags as these may be what you wa...

Re: Solving the radio problem

Hello Wes its nice to hear from you. I have made great steps on the radio front and now have a good board which works well. It is setup to control one motor and one servo so isn't suitable for a coil setup however i have sent one to Magracer and he is doing some trials on his chassis to see if he ca...

Re: Building a car

Hello All Nice to see you are all still experimenting. I too over Christmas tried to return to the coil setup, I tried two magnets, one magnet, one coil, two coils also and double wound ones (which do help), but the strength is very minimal and as with Wes's original the magnets have to be close to ...
