Re: Materials, Tools, and Techniques for Outdoor Track
Ah, Oak Creek Canyon. I've been through here a couple of times but it has been at least 35 years since my last visit. I recall in less than an hour you descend from alpine woods to red rock desert country. As to bondo, It is designed for body work on cars. That requires some flexibility and also mus...

Re: Materials, Tools, and Techniques for Outdoor Track
Ned, Are you doing Black Oak Canyon? That is a very beautiful place. Are you going to landscape the track? As to rust, other than longevity for the wire, would rust matter? The stainless Joel suggested would cure that. you would have to experiment with various sizes to try to find the same magnetic ...

Re: Took the leap

Re: Took the leap
Basically to build a bank turn, you cut out a turn with a bit of straight sections leading into and out of it attached. You will wind" up with a piece looking like a "U" or a "V" depending on the type of turn. Now grab the ends of the straights and squeeze. The more you pull...

Re: Took the leap
I don't want to speak for Wes and expect that he will chime in. I believe that Wes' Nascar cars will be of a longer wheelbase to conform to 1/32 scale Nascar wheelbase dimensions. That will require an extended chassis as well as bodies unless you want to get crafty and extend the short sports car bo...

Re: New, and in need of assistance!!
Clean looking track. Here are a couple of things that I would mention, It appears to me that at the pit entrance from either end (depending on track direction) the car will enter the pit lane by default. You will have to input a turn to stay on track. Is that what you want? Also the double cross ove...

Re: 'Routing the Keld method' (Dremel saw)
Heat is the worst enemy of any tooled steel. MDF has resins in it that will get pretty hot while machining the board. Probably your best bet would be to to your cuts in short bursts giving the blade a chance to cool between bursts. This would probably be especially true when cutting curves where th...
