We set up the MagTrack after our regular races last night. It took 3 minutes (we timed it).
A bunch of guys ran the 2 cars for a half hour, looks like most guys will only need one or two hours to get comfortable with it...I'm slowly winning them over, I think

Re: what to use for a lap counting system
Paul, Dan (TrackMate) will be away all next week, so I may not have the timer working till he gets back (I have some set-up questions). I don't have a price yet.

Re: Controller for lefties - wrong way around...
Everyone that's run on our track said that after a few minutes, they didn't mind the controllers. Most of us hold it in the left hand, horizontally, and steer with the right

Re: A question for Wes
DN...in my experience, driving over a lane change plate in the "wrong" direction works fine as long as you don't steer. I don't think the shape of the plate will help. I suppose you could run some wire parallel to the plate to catch the car and guide it back to the main wire.

Re: what to use for a lap counting system
I just got a lap counter from TrackMate, they adapted their r/c lap counter to work with MagCars. I'll be installing and testing it today, but I still only have enough batteries for 2 cars, I'll post some results later, but really want to test it with at least 6 cars running

Re: My Big MagTrack
I'm not spending much time or effort on finishing this track because I'll probably be building another one in a couple of months. I'm sure after running it for a while there'll be many things I'll do differently. http://oldslotracer.com/DSCN0992.JPG http://oldslotracer.com/DSCN0993.JPG I made a simp...

Re: My Big MagTrack
The lane change plates are installed exactly as shown on Wes' website, except there's one at each end.
Just make sure you're not steering when you drive across the plate meant for the other direction.

Re: My Big MagTrack
Ravajack...I think that video clip shows where all the lane changes are. Three along the straight, plus the pit entry, (on the center section) and one on each outside section. The rest are racing lines that don't change lanes. There's also an over-run lane at the end of the straight going clockwise....

Re: My test track
The third section is done! http://oldslotracer.com/DSCN0982.JPG Spent about 30 minutes running a car around the track. Works great in both directions, but there's a couple of lane changes that need some tweaking. Also, a couple of lane changes are a little too close together, it takes some fine timi...
