Re: My Big MagTrack
Here's my plan for the next track. It will be four 4ft x 8ft sheets of 1/4" MDF. It's a little bigger than what we have now, but will still sit on top of our Targa track. It should be easy to drive, because the challenge will be in the passing. The yellow wires will be heavier wire to catch car...

Re: My Big MagTrack
Paint schemes are whatever spray bombs I have at the time. Last night we ran 7 cars for the first time. We had 9 guys rotating through, 7 racing and 2 marshals. Everyone ran each car for 5 minute heats, took about 1 hr 15 minutes and we never changed batteries. Took the video at the end, when everyo...

Re: non slotters trying magracing
Our track is painted with flat latex and all the cars have masking tape on the rear tires. I think traction is about perfect for the power that these cars have. Kinda like taking the magnets out of a slot car, a bit of a learning curve, but way more fun. More traction will open a whole can of worms....

Re: My fleet,so far...
Actually, the green Ferrari is a tip to whatever I have sitting on my spray bomb shelf.
I hope to run all 8 cars this Friday night. Not sure if we'll be good enough for video yet. (don't want to scare people)

Re: My Big MagTrack
After running it in both directions for a while, we've decided that going counterclockwise works best and is a little easier. I've removed the lane change plates for the clockwise direction and added another racing line at the entry to the straight. What's been most interesting is that each car feel...

Re: Figure 8?
Looking nice and smooth. Have you tried it with all 3 cars on the track?

Re: My Big MagTrack
We had a few guys over tonight for some practice. It went way better than the first time. We ran 5 minute races and had 3 marshals and 3 guys racing. Everyone loved it and I finally got a bit of video

Re: Batteries and charger arrived today
I don't know the limit of the batteries yet. 12 batteries to run 6 cars and 6 controllers for 45 minutes, and using 2 chargers, they were all topped up in about half an hour.
I'm impressed.

Re: Race Line and running Line!
I think I've just reduced marshaling by about 75%. Sintra strips around the outside of troublesome corners. The wayward car slides along the fence and the curl at the end ensures that you still have to steer to pick up the wire again. It's a slower way around the corner, but it does make it easier t...
