Re: Magracing under new management
Hello everyone. I thought I would update everyone on the progress we are making and the issues we are having. There are a few here trying to get a new chassis going and I would encourage everyone to show their work as it helps a lot. I am still trying to perfect the steering mechanism. I am indeed u...

Re: Magracing under new management
Hello Gents Sorry for the slow progress, but we are also doing buildings and this seems to have taken over a lot of our time at the moment. We are still not 100% we will do full chassis as its a lot of work putting them together and almost no margin to make a small profit. Anyone who has built up a ...

Re: Magracing under new management
Here is the progress of the new chassis. We have developed new electronics and gone some way in developing the new hardware. http://www.magneticracing.com/cars/20171023newchassis01.jpg http://www.magneticracing.com/cars/20171023newchassis02.jpg http://www.magneticracing.com/cars/20171023newchassis03...

Re: New MagRacer car
This is a good design. We are actually doing something very similar for the new magracing chassis. You will also find that due to the centering of the steering, front end shimmy is greatly reduced. Ill try to post up some images of the new design this wek so you can see whats going on.

Re: Steel tape ?
Yes I have tried steel tape. The width you suggest is a little too wide, and 60 thou a bit thick but I have used 5mm wide (I think it was 20 thou thick). But narrower would be better. One issue us the bends as tape is difficult to bend around a corner. The older cars also suffer shimmy on the straig...

Re: Magracing under new management
I have been having a look around for sensors for the cars for lap timing. Has anyone had experience of using RFID as the kit is very cheap. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-10-20-50-100-500-125Khz-RFID-Proximity-ID-Card-Token-Tags-Key-fobs-Keyfobs-/262148593243?var=&hash=item3d0946165b:m:mp7UoE5Pwg3T...

Re: Magracing under new management
Yes I think this is the sort of system we might end up using rather than the car based flashing LED. A unique code under the car and some sort of bar reader. The reasons for this are as follows. 1) In its basic form one sensor could be used on the start finish line for simple lap timing. All cars ha...

Re: Magracing under new management
We are going for a 2.4ghz system with frequency scanning. The system is well proven for RC models. Our first cars will not have any track sensors or LEDs in the cars, so a race management system won't be included for the first batch. We will try to implement something later on which will be much mor...

Re: Magracing under new management
Thank you for the great ideas. The control boards in the cars are microcontroller based (Atmega328P) which is easily programmed and has a large development community. Currently we have got them just recieving from a hand controller, but there is no reason why they cannot transmit also to a base stat...
