New Garden-Track? Your opinion and your thoughts, please.

Hi freaks,

here we go. Planning for my future track goes on and I would like to ask you about your opinion and your thoughts about it.
Estimated size is arround 6m x 1,5m and it might look like this:

Image

Traveldirection will be beginning with LC1 anticlockwise. 'LC' is for Lanechange, 'BL' is Bestlane, 'Ext' is the area were future extensions might be added, further more the left and right end of the track might be interchanged here.

I am not sure if LC6 and LC9 are really necessary or if BL1 better should be made as a lanechange?!
What do you think?

What might happen at LC2 and LC8 when not steered? Are cars going to change lane here automatically?

Track has to be made modular for better transport and stowing away out of the garden into the basement when not in action.

The area between LC6 and LC8 is thought to be made as a bridge without space for sliding; is that pracical with Magracing? Rest of the track is going to have slidingareas of about 20 to 30cm each side of the track (see grey marked areas on the photo). Will that be enough?

I am looking fwd for your input. Thank you.

Regards Jens

Yeas The area around is far enough.
I like the Lc6 and then Lc7, where you can take hight for a better straight!
If you miss Lc9 next will be Lc4, and if you chose Bl1 you miss Bl2!
It looks like a very spacy track.

Look forward to run on it says Lasp

Hi Lasp, hi everybody,

thanks for your reply. Driving the first 'paperversion' of the track several times in my mind I wonder how long easy things sometimes take to get obvious. Subconciously I recognized that there was something wrong and yes, it was the problem not having a chance to change lanes when missing or even leaving away LC9 for a long distance. Thanks Lasp for this hint. If you want, please watch the latest version with the new alternative (Alt2) for the right side of the track. Furthermore I left away the former BL1 and build in LC4a instead. So watch yourself and thanks in advance for all your input.

I think the flow is even better now and racingline more realistic. I am a bit in sorrow if a good driver once he hit the bestlane might be overtaken again?

Btw: Once finished of cause everybody is welcome to race some laps. Wine is already cold, especially for you, Lasp.

Regards Jens

Hi Matt,

...yes, concerning the LC8 conversion you might be right. On the other hand I maybe keep it: If one is travellig upwards to the bridge and the driver just in front of you decides to change lanes at LC7 you might stay on this lane and overtake him just at LC8 by using the lanechange with the faster lane here whilst the other one has to break here due to tight curve!?. A risky exercise but it might work by surprise :beer . Thanks for the tip.

Regards Jens

Yes that could be good , gess you could keep it and put the alternative in too , it doesent cost anything but time to try :thumpup . Will you be dremel or plaster ?

...modular and dremel into waterproof plywood because track will be for outside use. Plaster furthermore wont be watertight. Regards Jens

I would take out LC6 and 7. Move LC 8 up to where LC 7 ends on the opposite lane. Then move LC 9 up to a little after where LC 8 is. Last thing I would do is change LC 2 to the opposite lane. Unless you make LC5 a BL. I would still move LC 8 and 9 up though, changing the LC 8 to the other lane. And move LC 2 to the other lane too. Remember that you want to make the lane change miss a penalty as well. So, the outside lanes of those turns should go out a couple of inches.

Thanks, guys for your comments.

Thing is growing bit by bit. Thought about the former LC6/7/8 area and made some changes there including the killing of LC9. Originally I wanted to avoid a complete 'racingline-layout' because I am a bit in sorrow about the possibility to overtake an other car might be difficult then. But even after adding the changes there are some good strategic points that will make racing interesting, I am sure. So watch yorself:

Guess it is going to be nicely flowing and relatively fast with many chances to fly off the road :D

Every comment welcome!

Its look good Jens. Fair just for testing.
I am testing to make a copy, if its OK for you, on a modular bases.
I have make two sheets of the most rights. 590 mm x 790 mm in a UnderFloormaterial of soft 5 mm.

Just for testing the places of LC and BL.

Of course I also want to see the bridge as something good.
If I use 6 sheets it will be nearly 80 cm x 360 cm! How big is it in your plan?
