Further to our recent newsletter to customers, attached is a photo of
the new wheel/tyre we have been testing. The wheels are hand turned
but I drilled the holes to match the front. The tyre is a very firm H.D. EVA
foam. Not rubber but it looks like rubber. We don't have any more to
send out as samples unfortunately so you will have to take our word that
the grip is perhaps 5% greater than masking tape. These, on the rear,
would add around £1.5 ($2) to the price of a car. Am I right in thinking
that most people would think this a good move? We are thinking that
it would be better to have a car which ran straight out of the box instead
of having to work on the wheels/tyres.
One photo also shows a new battery which gave over 30 minutes racing.
Made by ICR, which I hadn't heard of, and only rated at 360mAh.
$8.58 for 4, delivered, from cn-resource. Lots to choose from on
E Bay at present under AAA Li-Ion.

I for one whole heartedly endorse the idea of a rubber tire. May I suggest that it be mounted to a plain hub that is of a size that would allow commonly available inserts such as those from Slot.it for their 15X8 wheel. I also think the same should be available for the front end too.
I am not interested in any other battery except for one that will allow a narrower chassis.

I for one am not sure I see the point of rubber tires if I now have to continually replace them, especially without flatted axels and screw down hubs. In fact I see the merit in simply retreading with cheap commonly available supplies such as electrical tape or masking tape. This is especially true if I am trying to maintain a fleet of four or more cars at an equal performance level.
While we did find the masking tape to be slightly quicker, I don't believe it improved the racing experience to any significant degree.
I would be far more interested in a chassis with an adjustable rear section or a series of axel holes spaced at 1/4" increments so bodies with longer wheelbases could be used. This would go much farther in expanding the pool of racers interested if LMP, DTM, or NASCAR bodies could be used.

I have to mention that one thing that I really liked when I first saw the MAGracers is that I would never have to buy another set of tires. After years of 1/24 scale and buying or making sponge tires weekly the silicone 1/32 tires are great, glue them true them and keep them clean. I am sure a MAGracer wouldn't use them up very fast but wear may be a factor. I'd be more likely to use tape or rubber gloves. P.S. I do like Mike's idea of using standard 1/32 hardware.

Dont think they would ever wear out. Just thought seperate tyres might be more
appealing. Re battery, just commenting on the fact that a 350mAh cell gave the
longest running time ever so you cant judge too much by what it says on the cell.
