Stow Away Tables!
Stow Away Tables!
I bought all of my MagRacing gear a while back. I have not started building a track yet, since I had a problem of no space. Even though our kids have long since moved out of our home, our other rooms are spoken for (I have a wargame and hobby room, we have an office, and now we're remodeling another bedroom into a guest bedroom). I wanted a big table for this hobby, but with no room for a table - I came up with a solution. I have just now completed a six (6) foot by twelve (12) foot (or 1.8 meter by 3.7 meter) table. The entire table pivots so that it can be stowed away and the stand is on multiple rollers (with locks). An additional four legs can be swung out for additional support. The entire table in the stowed position can be rolled over to the side of the garage so that it is out of the way. Attached are two photos of the completed table. I will post others, as I start building the track.
The four additional small "feet" with rollers can swing out of place for storage and were included in my design for additional stability. It turns out I didn't need them, but I'd rather be safe, than sorry!
See you on the track!

Its right.
Just when you need the track, it should bee there.

Re: Stow Away Tables!
Now I just have to add some MDF board on the top, insert some wire - and make a few cosmetic touches to make it look like a real race track - and I'm off to the races!. I plan on putting a "wall" around the entire table to keep cars from flying off. Inside the wall I'll glue some banners I made with my printer of various automotive manufacturers (just like you see at a real race).

Very cool....
Re: Stow Away Tables!
I'm starting to lay down my track. It has been a while since I've worked on this table - I just completed remodeling a guest bedroom - complete with a wall mounted 46" 3D LCD TV!
As I get more of the track laid down, I'll try to upload some images. I plan on including some rocks and a grand stand. I am also installing a lap counter.

Re: Stow Away Tables!
I started drawing the track and two lanes. I have much more work to do (next weekend).
I used carbon paper to make a copy of the full scale track drawing from large paper onto each sheet of board.
Stay tuned!
