Are any of you guys a welder? I see that mild steel mig wire is available in .030" diameter. Princess Auto here in Canada carries it for about $4.00 a pound in small spools. I'll have to pick some up and try it. The .032" piano wire I tried worked just fine.

Re: Mig welding wire
My plans are to use .035 E70S6 weld wire, there is some in the scrap bin at work. Free is good. That's one of the nice things about this venue, if it don't work, rip it out and start over. I'll go back and get some .030. Doesn't look like a lot of work involved. But my end goal is to run 1:24.

Re: Mig welding wire
Keep us posted, I'll do the same. Lots to learn still, but having a blast. The small oval is a gas, I would like to build a larger one. You guys are going to enjoy this!

Re: Mig welding wire
I am using welding wire of 0,8mm Its with low kol (carbon) with make it more magnetic I guess.
I also make some experiment with default Lane Changer very easy !!. Pictures tomorrow

Re: Mig welding wire
Here is somepictures from another type of track material!
I am using a plastic film 0,20mm thick, cuit steff!
Then I tape the welding tread 0,8mm on de underside.
When it comes to the lane change brick I put two x 0,20 materaial before I tape it så the underside of the plate will be in level with the tread 0,7mm.
It works allright as I can se now.
But more testing will come.
The lane change ar manipulatif so you can set the default line by adjust the small wired bit to the left.
I hops you all understand waths going on!!

Re: Mig welding wire
I could only put up tree pictures, more will come.
But I am thinking of a bit thicker wire out at the end of the track,
just to collect the cars that slip of, and maybe take some more power of by sätting the wire double at some please
Could it be done?

Re: Mig welding wire
I was thinking about the same thing. Very the depth to change the magnetic force. Make those inside lines a little trickier to navigate. Also thought about just laying down wire and covering it with the racing surface just like you are experimenting with.Lasp wrote:I could only put up tree pictures, more will come.
