This title will, I am sure, attract the attention of our North American friends. We have finally
taken an interest in this saloon car racing series and, having viewed several videos and checked
out the latest cars, I am feeling quite enthusiastic about it.
Cars for the 2014 Sprint Cup Series are just appearing so we have the chance to build the
very latest models. The good news is that these cars are wider than in the past and are exactly
the correct width for our chassis. The shape is also perfect for vac. forming. Attached is a
photo of the half built body mould. This will be the Ford Fusion version although the GM/Holden
and Toyota are virtually the same with differing radiator grills! I think the latest rule changes
have made these cars much better looking and more like the European and Australian saloons.
We now have to find room for an oval track. One of our 3 tracks may have to go I am afraid!
I will comment on this seperately under 'Tracks'.
The chassis will be 3.44" wheelbase (87mm) If the prototype and track go well, chassis may
be GRP or carbon fibre plate with 3d printed battery holder, etc.
Only problem with these cars is the paint schemes. There are plenty of scale colour drawings
available so hopefully someone will find the best way to copy these.
