Basics of track building

1.what is the thickness of the sheet should I use? I have checked around and thinnest i found was 1/2". 2. I have seen other track with bridges it seemed like what they used was thinner and more flexible

½" = 1,27 cm.
That depend on what you use under the sheet, I use 3 mm as the thinnest, but this is so flexible that I need much stabilization.
6 mm MDF is better, still flexible to the bridge, but much less stabilization needed.
