In Denmark you can buy it in any paint shops:

it is invented for the magnetic board, paint a wall in the home a use magnet to hang up notes etc. jut like on the refrigiator. But you can wait, one of the guys in the club have it and we will test it soon.

Other posts that I have read on here, have mentioned wire size effecting drag on the guide magnet thus slowing cars down...

Things that I intend to try to slow or stop cars into a pit lane are:

Thicker wire... just in the pit lane

Double deep wire, maybe multiple stacks of it... or side by side...
The depth of the metal or magnet should effect it more than the width.

Stick a magnet in the track, right were you want the car to stop, you should be able to coast into it, and have the magnet pull you to a stop...
Will be tricky to find one strong enough to jerk it to a stop, but still allow you to pull away from it.
