Reuse SCX/Scaletrix classic track as a MagRacing track.

I have been thinking on this for a while - is it a fast way to a new track ?

So I ripped of the rails by twisting off the locking tabs with a small screwdriver.
Cut some .7 mm wire and yes this could very well be done.

There are 2 options.
Use a 3.6mm (3dprinted) insert in track groove or use one of the existing seating of the rail and fill the rest with black hot glue ?

Then you need to route the racing-line and lane change sections in the plastic.

This is probably an easy way to a MagRacing track.

Here is a picture of one piece. I still have to do the rest - more to come.
Any comments ?

My Jig setup is getting closer.
I cut off a few 'board-pegs' to have an easy fixture for the track when routing and not having to screw it down.
The pegs just fit the track connector hole. I glued them in place.

Now just waiting to get a chuck adapter: 8 to 4 mm as my routing bits are 4 mm not my routers 8.

I think this is coming along quite ok. I still need to stabilize my jig to get even performance.

This is a mock-up of how I think it can work, still to test. Red for lane change - green for taking the race-line. Race direction towards the camera.
